Quiniela Popular (“the Pool”) is a private World Cup 2026 prediction game run for friends and family. This page describes what we collect, how we use it, and the rules of participation. By using the Pool you agree to these terms.
1. What we collect
- Display name — chosen by you or by the pool admin on your behalf, shown on the public leaderboard.
- Magic-link token — a random identifier in your personal URL. It is your login.
- Predictions — your picks for each match.
- Phone number (optional) — only if you opt in to WhatsApp result notifications. You can remove it at any time from your participant page.
- Server logs — standard request logs (IP, user agent, timestamp) kept short-term for abuse prevention and debugging.
We do not collect: email addresses, real names (unless you put one as your display name), payment information, location data, browser fingerprints, or third-party tracking cookies.
2. How we use it
- To run the Pool: store your predictions, compute scores, and show the leaderboard.
- To send WhatsApp result notifications, only if you opted in.
- To prevent abuse (rate limiting based on IP).
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone. There are no advertising networks, no analytics platforms, no third-party trackers.
3. Where it lives
Data is stored in a single SQLite database hosted on Railway (railway.com). WhatsApp messages, if you opt in, are delivered via Twilio (twilio.com). No other third party processes your data.
4. Your rights
You may at any time:
- Ask the pool admin to delete your account, predictions, and phone number.
- Ask for a copy of all data we hold about you.
- Remove your phone number / opt out of WhatsApp notifications from your participant page.
If you are in the EU (GDPR) or Brazil (LGPD), the same rights apply. Contact the pool admin to exercise them.
5. Retention
Predictions, scores, and the leaderboard are kept until the end of the tournament and for a reasonable time afterward (typically a few months) so participants can revisit results. After that, the database may be archived or deleted at the admin's discretion. You can request earlier deletion at any time.
6. Security
The admin panel is password-protected. Magic-link tokens are random and effectively unguessable, but they ARE the login — anyone with your link can submit predictions as you. Treat the link like a password: don't share it, don't post screenshots that include the URL bar.
7. Terms of use
- Quiniela Popular is provided as-is, free of charge, with no warranty.
- The service does not accept, hold, distribute, or facilitate any payments. It is a free prediction-tracking tool — a scoreboard, nothing more. Any side agreements between participants regarding entry fees, prizes, or other consideration are entirely between those participants and outside the scope of this service.
- By participating, you confirm that any such side agreements you choose to enter into are legal in your jurisdiction. The pool organizer and Quiniela Popular accept no responsibility for arrangements made between participants off-platform.
- Don't try to break it, scrape it, or abuse other participants. The admin may remove anyone who does.
- Predictions lock at first kickoff. Once locked, picks cannot be changed.
- Scoring rules are listed on the participant page and are final once the tournament begins.
8. Changes
If anything material here changes, the “Last updated” date at the top will reflect it. For a friends-only pool we don't expect substantive changes during the tournament.
